Free-will Astrology
I’m not one for horoscopes, but @metropulse really hit it on the head with this one: “Whatever gets in the way of the work,” wrote poet Jason Shinder, “is the work.” His counsel will serve as a good reminder for you if you meet with obstacles in the coming days. If you ever catch yourself thinking, “Damn! I’d be making such good progress if it weren’t for these inconvenient complications,”...

Schedule
Since it looks like I’ll be returning to full-time freelance work at some point this year (probably sooner than later), I’ve been wanting to address something I failed to do the last time I was a full-time freelancer - namely, scheduling my time. It’s amazing how quickly you feel overwhelmed or overworked when you wake up, wander into your home office, sit down at the computer,...

Grimtower Art: Part 2
I’ve pretty much completed the structure and design of all the cards, with a few exceptions (swindle, epics). I’m not sure it’ll actually be the artwork I use in the finished product,...

Friends and Clients
Spent most of the morning building a cost estimate for a very large job that will unfold over six months. It’s hard to “guesstimate” your hours for a project this big, and it’s even harder to hand over an estimate that has a client paying for at least 520 hours of services. I’m fortunate to have worked with these folks for a long time, and know that they value the...

Avatar, Part 2
Taking the Santos-Prowses to see Avatar tonight. I still wish Knoxville had a true IMAX screen, but the 3/4 size digital projection is pretty nice.

echocodex
Been busting my hump all day to get this site to a point where it’s usable. I’ve been thinking about building a central hub - like a one-stop shop for all the disparate crap I produce - for a long time. But with so many other projects always going on, I just haven’t gotten around to building it until today. echocodex.com It’s looking alright. I wanted to keep it simple...

I think Tumblr is broken
For some inexplicable reason, Tumblr refuses to post my entries. Since this is my first day using the service, I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and assume I’ve done something wrong. But for a web app built purely to serve blog posts, Tumblr sure doesn’t want to comply.

Hello World
If you’re going to have a blog, you’ve got to have a first post. So this is it.
